Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

What the Muddle?

What the Muddle?

Although muddling sounds like something from a Harry Potter spell book, you don’t have to be a magician to do it, although it certainly can make a drink taste like magic! Using the muddler (pictured below) you can release the aromas and juices in fruits, veggies, spices and herbs by crushing them (think mortar & pestle). This adds layers of flavour and complexity to a cocktail, while making you look extra fancy ;).

Be careful though! Over-muddling herbs and spices can make a cocktail rather bitter, upsetting the overall flavour balance of the drink. It is also time-consuming and can be messy, so avoid muddling if you are throwing a party and have to make a lot of drinks. Lastly, it is important to note that muddling seasonal, fresh ingredients means that no two cocktails will be exactly the same, so you should also take this into consideration when considering the overall flavour of your drink.
